Working principle of fire extinguisher pressure gauge: Why can it ensure the fire extinguishing effect?

Fire extinguisher pressure gauge is a key component to ensure the normal operation of fire extinguisher. It can intuitively reflect the pressure state inside the fire extinguisher, so as to judge whether the fire extinguisher is in a usable state.

Fire extinguisher pressure gauge can help people understand whether the fire extinguisher is in normal working condition. Before using the fire extinguisher, you can confirm whether the pressure inside the fire extinguisher is sufficient to ensure its normal spraying of fire extinguishing agent by reading on the pressure gauge.

1. Working principle of fire extinguisher pressure gauge

Fire extinguisher pressure gauge is usually installed on the bottle or valve of the fire extinguisher to monitor the storage pressure of fire extinguishing agent (such as dry powder, carbon dioxide or water-based fire extinguishing agent). Its working principle is mainly based on the following mechanism:

Pressure sensing mechanism

The pressure gauge senses the pressure change inside the fire extinguisher through the internal spring tube (Bourdon tube) or diaphragm.

When the pressure inside the fire extinguisher changes, the spring tube deforms, driving the pointer to move, thereby displaying the current pressure value on the dial.

Color zone indication

Green zone (normal): indicates normal pressure and the fire extinguisher can be used normally.

Yellow zone (too high): The pressure is too high, there may be safety hazards, and it needs to be checked or replaced.

Red zone (too low): Insufficient pressure, the fire extinguisher may not spray normally, and it needs to be refilled or replaced in time.

2. Product features of fire extinguisher pressure gauge

High-precision measurement: Made of pressure-resistant materials to ensure accurate and reliable pressure readings.

Seismic and corrosion-resistant: Suitable for different environments (such as high temperature, humidity or chemical corrosion environments).

Intuitive display: Quickly judge the status of the fire extinguisher through color partitioning (green, yellow, red).

Long-life design: Some high-end pressure gauges use stainless steel or tempered glass to improve durability.

3. Precautions when using

Regular inspection

Check the pressure gauge at least once a month to ensure that the pointer is in the green zone.

If the pointer is in the red or yellow zone, it should be handled immediately (refilled or replaced).

Avoid misoperation

Do not disassemble or knock the pressure gauge at will to avoid affecting its accuracy.

After using the fire extinguisher, the pressure gauge needs to be rechecked to ensure that it is still within the normal range.

Environmental adaptability

Avoid exposing the fire extinguisher to extreme temperatures (such as exposure to the sun or severe cold) or humid environments for a long time to avoid affecting the accuracy of the pressure gauge.

4. Key points for storage and maintenance

  • Proper storage

Fire extinguishers should be stored in a dry, ventilated, easily accessible location, away from heat sources and corrosive substances.

Ensure that the pressure gauge is visible for daily inspection.

  • Regular maintenance

Pressure testing and maintenance by a professional organization every 12 months.

If the pressure gauge is damaged or displays abnormalities, it should be replaced in time.

  • Scrapping standard

If the fire extinguisher pressure gauge displays abnormalities for a long time (such as leakage, the pointer does not return to its position), or the fire extinguisher exceeds its service life (usually 5-10 years), it should be scrapped and replaced with a new device.
