Main Ingredients |
Potential Risks |
ABC Dry Powder |
Ammonium Phosphate |
Irritation to eyes and respiratory tract, itchy skin |
BC Dry Powder |
Sodium Bicarbonate |
Weakly alkaline, may still cause coughing |
Ultrafine Dry Powder |
Nano-grade Fire Extinguishing Agent |
More susceptible to deep respiratory inhalation |
Short-term exposure:
Inhalation of small amounts → Cough and sore throat (resolved within 1-2 days)
Inhalation of large amounts → Chest tightness and difficulty breathing (requires medical attention)
Long-term risks:
Repeated exposure may cause chronic bronchitis (occupational case among firefighters)
Action:
After extinguishing the fire, quickly retreat to an upwind location.
Open windows/turn on exhaust fans to accelerate dust dispersal.
Stay for at least 30 minutes before returning.
Note:
Do not use a standard fan (direct airflow will stir up accumulated dust).
Part-by-Part Treatment:
Contact Area |
Cleaning Method |
Skin |
Rinse with cold water for 10 minutes and then scrub with soap. |
Eyes |
Rinse with saline or clean water for 15 minutes. |
Respiratory Tract |
Rinse mouth with light salt water 3 times. |
Don'ts:
Do not rub your eyes! It may cause corneal scratches.
Processing by Material:
Hard Surfaces (Floors/Furniture): Wet mop with a neutral detergent, focusing on crevices (dry powder easily accumulates).
Soft Surfaces (Curtains/Carpets): Vacuum with a HEPA filter. Local stains should be sprayed with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water, then wiped.
Maximum Service Life: 10 years (calculated from the date of manufacture).
Retirement Conditions:
Rust area ≥ 1/3 of the cylinder
Obvious deformation, cracks, or signs of repair
Nameplate blurred, unable to identify manufacturing information.
First Maintenance: First inspection and replacement of the extinguishing agent is required after 5 years of manufacture.
Subsequent Maintenance: After the first maintenance, re-inspection and refilling are required every 2 years.
Signs of Fire Extinguishing Agent Failure: Agglomeration, weight loss (leakage), or abnormal pressure.
Green Zone: Normal pressure, continued use.
Red Zone: Insufficient pressure, requiring immediate repair or replacement.
Yellow Zone: Excessive pressure; the new extinguisher may function normally, but excessive pressure requires inspection.
Cylinder: No rust, deformation, or cracks (rust area <1/3).
Nozzle/Nozzle: No blockage, cracking, or damage.
Safety Pin/Seal: Intact.
Production Date: Check the cylinder stamp or nameplate. Any cylinder older than 10 years must be scrapped.
Repair Label: After the first repair, a label from the testing agency should be placed, indicating the next inspection date.
Over 10 Years: Even if unused, the cylinder must be scrapped.
Between 5-10 Years: If the pressure is normal and the appearance is intact, the cylinder can be sent to a professional for inspection and refilling.
Even if not expired: If used or the pressure is abnormal, repair and refill are required immediately.
High temperature/humid environment: This accelerates the agglomeration of the extinguishing agent and corrosion of the cylinder. It is recommended to shorten the inspection interval.
