1. Precautions for operation process
When using a fire extinguisher, stop 5-10 meters away from the fire source to avoid high temperature burns or oil fire splashing and injuring people. When spraying, advance slowly and do not get too close to the fire source.
Dry powder fire extinguisher: aim at the root of the flame and sweep left and right to cover the burning area; foam fire extinguisher: spray the foam along the inner wall of the container or the edge of the flowing fire, gradually cover the liquid surface, and avoid direct impact on the liquid surface to cause oil splashing.
When extinguishing oil fire, advance from the periphery to the center to prevent the fire from spreading; when burning in the container, spray the foam or dry powder to the inner wall of the container so that the fire extinguishing agent flows down along the wall to cover the liquid surface and avoid direct impact.
2. Selection of fire extinguishing agent
Dry powder fire extinguisher: suitable for fires of oil, flammable liquids and live equipment, but it should be noted that the dry powder may not be able to completely cover the oil surface, and it needs to be checked repeatedly to prevent re-ignition.
Foam fire extinguisher: only suitable for fires of non-water-soluble oils, and cannot be used for fires of water-soluble liquids such as alcohol and ether.
When using a fire extinguisher, you should always stand in the upwind direction to avoid inhalation of smoke and toxic gases, and ensure that the fire extinguishing agent effectively covers the fire source.
If the oil fire is accompanied by the burning of electrical equipment, the power supply must be cut off and a dry powder fire extinguisher must be used to extinguish the fire. Foam fire extinguishers cannot be used for live fires.
3. Safety and follow-up treatment
After dry powder fire extinguishing, the residual fire point must be thoroughly checked. Foam fire extinguishing requires ensuring that the liquid surface is completely covered and oxygen is isolated. Avoid evacuating immediately after extinguishing the fire. Continuous monitoring is required to prevent re-ignition. If necessary, contact the fire department for thorough treatment.
